I grew up in a small town. When I say small town… I mean 90 people. I also grew up in the church (the only one in our town). I remember so vividly when Jesus became my Savior at the age of five.
Later on, I began attending Washington State University in 2011, making me a 3rd generation Coug. Early on I knew that I was the only one who would determine what I would find my identity in. I started attending Resonate my very first week at college.
During college, I became a church consumer. Never quite going all in but staying involved enough that I could always answer that I went to church and sometimes Village. During the fall of my senior year, I remember God pulling me to go to Elevate and although I was reluctant, I decided to obey. That summer will forever be a turning point for me. It was difficult at times but completely worth it.
At the end of the summer, I had completed my degree a semester early and God closed all of the doors to the jobs I applied for. He pulled me aside, and told me to move to Cheney to help Resonate plant at EWU. While at Cheney, I found out how much I enjoyed serving on Sunday mornings - it was by far my favorite day of the week and I loved interacting with the volunteers.
At the end of the year I applied to go on full-time with Resonate. I didn’t know what position I was applying for; all I knew was that God was calling me back to the Palouse.
My hope for Resonate is depth. That we continue to go deeper with Jesus, deeper into the Bible, and deeper into community.
