“My heart will always belong to Texas.” Why wouldn’t I believe this phrase? I mean, I did grow up in the great piney woods of east Texas (Nacogdoches to be exact), and my heart had always been content to live in that great state. Little did I know that God had a different adventure planned for me than I would have ever imagined.
I was baptized on a Super Bowl Sunday when I reached the great age of 8, but truly never walked with Jesus until the middle of my fifteenth year on earth. While driving home from seeing the movie “Scorpion King” with my dad, I realized that I was playing a game with the Creator of the universe. Sure, He deserved my everything but I thought I would just give it to Him later; that night everything changed.
A year after that, I began traveling to lead songs at worship events across Texas. I wanted to be used by the Lord and thought that since I had a little musical talent, I should just use that for Him. I continued to do this for ten years across the nation, while graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, moving to Houston, TX, and serving on a few church staffs.
In the fall of 2012, I began to feel a different call on my life. God began to place in me an affection for the beautiful Northwest. My brother, Drew Worsham, had planted a church in an area called the Palouse, and I had to be a part of it. So I packed up my bags and drove across the country to be a part of Resonate.
My hope for Resonate Church is that our people would fall madly in love with Jesus Christ, and walk in His ways as we eagerly wait for Him, because it is His name and His renown that are the desires of all our hearts. (Isaiah 26:8)
