My wife Yae and I both transferred to CWU in 2013, each planning to graduate as soon as possible and prepare to move to Japan for ministry. I did not take long however, for God to begin to show us His deep love for the students there and their deep need to be transformed by Christ. We began to feel Him tugging on us to live more missionally on campus, especially towards international students. At the time, however, we were living outside Ellensburg and commuting about an hour to class. So we had a hard time connecting to community and building relationships. That spring we began talking about moving to Ellensburg, and that’s when we got connected with this crazy team of young people who’d moved over from the Palouse to start a church. At first I was hesitant to get involved, but like most good things in my life, God used Yae to drag me into it!
We moved to Ellensburg the next fall and began attending Gathering and Village. We immediately fell in love with Resonate’s heart to see the lost and broken restored by Christ. The community touched us, and we were challenged to live missionally like never before. We realized that Central is just as big a mission field as anywhere else! We got to see God move powerfully and change so many lives in that first year!
Now we’re ecstatic to join CWU’s staff to bring light and hope to campus, and start our life as a family in Ellensburg with our newborn son Owen. God has blessed us with the opportunity to start an International Village, and we’re excited to see how God uses it!
I love Jesus, my wife and kid, cheap pizza, mustaches, soccer, making references to The Office, bears, beets, and Battlestar Galactica.
