My name is Shiloh and I'm from Sichuan, China.

When I was a freshman, I met some American students who told me about Jesus for the first time, but I didn’t believe it. I was a typical Chinese student who only believed in science. I thought Christianity and God were western fairy tales. Then I met more American students. They shared with me and I said no again. But again and again, I would meet more students, hear about Jesus, and continue to say no.

After my second year in college, my life completely changed.

The summer before my junior year, my mom got a very bad cancer and my family was in a very bad situation. I was so worried about my mom, and at the same time I was confused about my future. I just felt like nobody could understand me and what I was going through. That’s when I talked one of my dearest friends who had been sharing the Gospel with me and praying for my mom all the time. She told me I should talk to Jesus, but I was hesitant because I didn't believe in Him. Still, she encouraged me to just try.

“He will listen. Trust me.”

I went back to my home that summer, and I stayed at the hospital with my mom. I saw she was in so much pain, and all I wanted to do was help her. One night, I was laying on my bed and I finally talked to God.

I asked: “Are you really real?”

Then I talked to Him about all the things I have been through. After that I couldn't stop crying, because I really felt someone was listening to me.

The next day, I told my mom I wanted to believe in Jesus even though I had no idea who God is or who Jesus is. I just felt my heart was so desperate to know Him.

After I returned to school, I had lost touch with my only Christian friend, and I wasn’t sure what to do. So I went to a big Chinese church by myself, but I didn't understand anything the pastor was preaching. For some reason, I couldn't help but cry. There was a voice calling me to get closer to Him.

Finally I reconnected with my Christian friend, and I told her I really wanted to know this Jesus person. She gave me a Bible and taught me who Jesus is and how He died for me on the cross. The Gospel I had heard so many times before finally made sense to me.

I decided to follow Jesus.

Before I knew God, my life didn’t have a clear direction. Since then, my life has changed so much. I have been able to travel to Thailand to teach Chinese, and visit my brothers and sisters in Christ in America. Every day I just feel so grateful, and no matter how bad my day was, there is also something that makes me think about God and be grateful again. I have more joy, and I feel His presence every day. On top of it all, my mom was completely healed! Praise the Lord!

I have met so many missionaries from America, and their love for me is just so encouraging. I have been so blessed through them. A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to share about how my life changed with a team who was about to leave for East Asia. It was amazing to be able to encourage them to share the Gospel with students who were just like me. Because of missionaries like them, my friends and I heard the Gospel for the first time. If they hadn’t come to me, I wouldn’t have become a Christian. I believe they are going to change students’ lives, just like mine.

I am so amazed by how great God’s plan is and how much He loves me, even though I said no to Him so many times. He never gave up on me. He just kept chasing me until eventually my heart was melted by His love. He never gives up on anyone. Now I'm here writing down my testimony about how He changed my life.

Four years ago, if I didn’t open my heart to God and decide to follow Him, there wouldn’t be light in my life. I would still be that girl who didn’t have any confidence, who wouldn’t smile, who was confused about her future, and had no hope. But Jesus chose me. He loves me so much. He puts the biggest smile on my face, and calls me His princess.

Thank you Jesus and I love you.

This is my story. Thank you for allowing me to share it with you, and give Him glory.
