I grew up all across the country, but I’ve called Washington home for the past 8 years. I attended college at Central Washington University, where I first heard the gospel and gave my life to Jesus. As a freshman, I met a few students that were part of Resonate Church. Up until this point in my life, I believed in God, but I had no personal relationship with Him. Over the course of my freshman year, however, I heard more and more about God and His love for me. I was transformed by the idea that Jesus died for me, out of love, and that I was completely forgiven. I accepted God into my life and decided to follow Jesus in the mission that spring. In the following few years, I grew in my faith and began to lead young women around me in theirs. I learned what it meant to say “yes” to God, unconditionally, and to serve Him above all else. He asked me to pursue my passion of writing to share the gospel. He asked me to commit to church-planting one day. He asked me to join staff with Resonate to continue reaching college students. God was faithful in my obedience, and now, I have a B.A. in Professional & Creative Writing, I recently church-planted at the University of Washington in Seattle, and I am working for a church that is passionate about bringing the gospel to college campuses. In only a few years, God changed my entire life. I can think of nothing more rewarding than to share that same hope with other students, just like someone once did with me.
My role as a Site Administrator is to help support the site staff members in Seattle through the odds and ends of administrative work. I aim to look ahead for the needs of my team so that they can do their jobs smoothly. I also serve to maintain healthy systems and operations within the Seattle site. This includes communicating with those in our church, handling finances, and managing the different tools we have to help both our staff and our leaders in the mission. I am, in essence, the person who enables the ideas and hopes of those around me. If someone needs outside help, I connect them to others or step in myself. When my team is planning an event to reach students, I provide assistance with budgeting, attendance, or data reporting. My hope for my role is to allow those around me to focus solely on the mission by handling the operational details myself. I see my position as a unique opportunity to meet the needs of others in our church, even when they are not yet aware of those needs.
I love being the trellis that supports the fruit that our multipliers and site staff are helping create. For every team member that steps forward to share about Jesus, I want to support and encourage them in the logistics. Jesus shared the good news, and then He enabled and helped those around Him to go out just as He did. I want to support the mission in much the same way: enabling those that God has called into discipleship-specific roles by doing the work that allows them to go out more smoothly. I am also deeply passionate about serving the city of Seattle. God asked me a few years ago to say “yes” to being sent out one day, and I responded with open palms. I waited for where He wanted to send me, but He asked instead for my patience. A year ago, He finally answered with Seattle. I have been waiting to go where God called, and He has been preparing my heart for this city for quite some time. It’s a hub full of young students, artists just like me, and a clear need for the gospel. My heart breaks looking out at these streets. This city is an answer to my prayers and a mission field to my very passions. I am honored to share the gospel in and serve Seattle with my role on staff.
Along with my role comes support raising my monthly income. I invite others that also believe in the work God is doing in my life and in Resonate Church to help contribute toward it. This money allows me to continue working for Resonate by covering the cost of rent, groceries, and other needs, especially in such an expensive city as Seattle. It is a joy to invite others to help me, just as I get the privilege of helping others in my job.
