The Good and Faithful Servant

Matthew 3:13-17, Matthew 25:14-30, Romans 3:21-30, James 2:14-26

God does not call us to be good and successful servants. But isn’t the enemies greatest weapon against us, that we would believe our works and our success matters to our salvation or standing with God?

Here’s the thing we must absolutely understand as we continue to follow Jesus. Our lives are about God. Our faith is about God. Our worship is about God. Our works are about God. Our relationships, major, diet, hobbies, children, cars, EVERYTHING is about God and God alone. So he knows we will fail, but there is grace and a constant reminder that God delights in us knowing him and exalting him. Not creating or doing perfect things.

When we do things well its much easier to boast in ourselves. Or even when we try & fail our attention then becomes more on how we failed. Instead of surrendering our lives for the soul purpose of his exaltation. We must be those like Jesus who remember who we are and who God is. When we can do that we remember and trust that God will bring about life from death, kingdom work from our labor (good or bad) and that ultimately our greatest delight is in his greatest exaltation.

As we walk through this series, let us remember that God helps us to be the good and faithful servants he requires us to be. We pray that as you read through this series it would bring freedom to you as you serve God and a greater joy to continue to run the race with endurance.
