In the fall of 2011, I walked into my dorm at Washington State University, a fresh Christian still trying to die to my old self. I was excited and scared because college is all I ever wanted in my life. College meant escaping the broken place I called home. It meant I could become something more than what people had always labeled me. It was my opportunity to prove that I belong in this world. Little did I know that the God I was still getting to know had much bigger and much better plans for me.

I started attending village as a freshman at Resonate and have been here ever since. It has been the best, hardest, the most intense growing experience I have ever had. I wouldn’t have traded it for the world. I learned that God is a much bigger God than we often talk about. That is one who calls every tribe, tongue, and nation to glorify and praise his name. I learned what it means to be in the pit and to cling to God’s character in the midst of darkness. I learned that community is essential and your family doesn’t have to be the people who share your DNA.

In 2013 I gave my yes to go to Southeast Asia for two weeks to share the Gospel among unreached people groups. It was there that once again, the Creator God had turned my world upside down. I had seen the need and heard the call, “Go make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold. I am with you always, to the end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20). It was then I had said yes to giving my life to reaching the unreached. I had decided to join the international ministry team at WSU, spend the next summer in Thailand, and apply to go overseas. In 2017 I was able to move and help plant a local church in East Asia. It was the best and hardest 2.5 years of my life.

Due to COVID, we had to return home and take new positions within Resonate. It has been my joy over the last few months to join the Resonate Network team! Though I miss my life overseas and miss going out to meet students on campus; the Lord in his kindness has opened my heart to love the Bible deeply and to love equipping our leaders to be sent across the Northwest and one day across the world.

I’ve learned a lot about what it means to be a follower of Christ, and I am incredibly grateful to follow a God who so willingly and lovingly invites us to work alongside him whether that has been on campus or at my computer. I am blessed to be a part of building his kingdom, so one day the roar of the nations worshiping the One True King Jesus and we get to see our Saviour face to face.
