Making the Move

Once funding and approval happen the team begins to look for housing. We typically set our eye on homes close to campus, with decently large gathering spaces in the main areas and backyards. Depending on the city, it is not always possible to find housing close to campus and much of our decision hinges on the way that students commute to campus or live in proximity to campus. Many of our church planting sites believe that it is important to live together. Single people, young professionals, and students will often have 5+ roommates, knowing that church planting can be lonely and it is more healthy to avoid isolation. Married couples will even invite others on the church planting team to live with them. Our teams are made up of young professionals who have graduated from college and chosen to get a job in a church planting to help with the plant, students who have transferred schools to finish their education as a church planter, church staff, and even families.
