PROJECT DETAILS
DAY TO DAY
Each day at Elevate looks different but all point to growth in community, living on mission, and deeper connection to Jesus. Mondays & Wednesdays will consist of Life Skill Development and Learning Labs. Tuesdays & Thursday are all about serving the city through volunteer opportunities. Friday - Sunday is used for exploring San Diego and serving a local church.
LIFE SKILLS
During the five weeks at Elevate, we hope that students not only grow spiritually but also in knowledge of different skills. Life Skill Development is a hands on opportunity to learn a practical skill necessary to one's personal growth and development (Ie. silence & solitude, budgeting, cooking, and more!).
LEARNING LABS
Our desired outcome of this Summer Project is that college students grow to love God more. Learning Labs are a classroom environment devoted to the teaching, learning, and application of one of the four core Elevate competencies (Abide, Connect, Disciple, Send). We do this in order to understand the role we play in making disciples.
support raising
IN ORDER TO GET TO SD THIS SUMMER, WE ASK ALL STUDENTS TO FUNDRAISE THEIR COST.
-
The term “support raising” can have many connotations when you first see it. It implies that students will be asked to raise money to cover the costs of the trip. When we use the term, we are referring to so much more than financial support. Students are “raising” prayer support, emotional support and spiritual support alongside financial support.
-
Support raising allows students to be sent by their families, friends and churches. Asking for support (both prayer and financial) helps get people involved in the student’s experience. It gives the student encouragement along the way, gives affirmation from the body of Christ and allows others to participate in God’s mission.
-
Students will have access to support raising training that gives them step-by-step material to achieve their fundraising efforts.
As you being the journey of raising funds you will receive a weekly support update from Resonate Finance Team that includes each donor’s name & gift amount as well as an update on the total raised & the remaining amount left to be raised. Additionally, you will have a support coach who will check in with you weekly to help you achieve your fundraising goals.

Any meal at a restaurant is up to the student and their personal management of money. However, if a student wishes to save money, they will be given a $40 per diem each week if they would like to eat any food outside of budget given for their room food. Eating out is not necessary, but often desired in a city like San Diego.
-
Any tourist activities (San Diego Zoo, Belmont Park, beach bike rentals, shopping, etc) are up to the discretion of the student. There are lots of fun things to do in San Diego that are free or inexpensive. Students are not obligated to take part in any of these activities.
-
Some students choose to drive their personal vehicles to San Diego for the summer. This is helpful for students to have freedom to explore the city and eliminate the travel time of public transportation. In order to honor drivers and not have their vehicles (and gas) taken advantage of, we ask students to use Venmo/Cash when riding with others via a Gas Card System that is based on miles driven.
ON SITE & DAY-TO-DAY
On site transportation for day-to-day use is covered in the cost of Elevate. Each student will be given $100 over the course of the summer to help contribute to any gas expenses - whether that is car pooling across the city with friends, or putting gas in your personal vehicle.
TRANSPORTATION
TO & FROM SAN DIEGO
Travel arrangements to and from Elevate are not included in the cost of the project. Many students choose to carpool to San Diego and divide the cost of gas among themselves. However, you wish to purchase a plane or train ticket, transportation will be available for arrival and departure times.
Should students wish to raise additional support (above $3300) to cover travel expenses (gas, or flight) reimbursements will be issued upon submission of a valid receipt of purchase, pending the excess funds available in the student’s account. Unfortunately, we are unable to reimburse travel meals. We are willing and would love to help students coordinate rides or flights, as well with making decisions in planning travel arrangements upon request.
