Genesis 23-24

I don’t know about you, but the fact that it is already 2021 and that January is halfway over blows my mind. It seems like just yesterday we were saying goodbye to all of our students as they leave to live out the pandemic at home. And just like, that thing after thing happened. In our house, it started with having to replace our roof, then COVID hit, then isolation, then we had a baby, more isolation, unrest in our nation, political struggles and here we are in 2021. Life always seems to go awry somehow. When there is abundant joy usually a valley follows. But as we read these stories I am encouraged to see God’s hand in all of it. From Abraham burying his wife, to the Lord finding a wife for Isaac. God knew He was going to build His people through Abraham and that eventually the Messiah would come from Abraham’s line.

God is constantly directing us. In the hard, unlikely moments, in the joy filled and fun moments. God is always listening, leading and guiding. We can find comfort in this truth when it feels like our circumstances are going in an unlikely direction. “Good and upright is the Lord; therefore He instructs sinners in His ways. He guides the humble in what is right and teaches them His way.” Psalm 25:8-9.

What are some things that have happened in this last year that have made it difficult to trust in God’s plan for your life?

Spend some time asking God how He wants to use you in this specific season and pray for faith to follow His leading.
