Kingdom Initiatives

Make an impact in your community

What are Kingdom Initiatives?

An act by the Church (village initiated) that serves the purpose of bringing the Kingdom of God to earth in order that He may be glorified through our efforts. Throughout Kingdom Initiatives, the hope is that they operate in either one of two ways (or potentially both):

Kingdom Reflecting

  1. An initiative that reflects the Kingdom of God by meeting felt needs of people outside of the church, usually through an act of service.

  2. Has the main purpose of fulfilling a need in order to reflect how God fulfills our needs and ultimately our greatest need for a Savior. Maybe even displaying a glimpse of Heaven on Earth through healing, restoring, or making wrongs right.

Kingdom Building

  1. An initiative that builds the Kingdom of God through direct outreach/gospel sharing opportunities.

  2. Has the main purpose of believers getting around non-believers in order to show them who Christ is through community and the Gospel. Be the workers sent into the harvest.

How Do Kingdom Initiatives Impact my City?

Jesus continually met needs & extended invitations/created space for people to experience and join the kingdom of God everywhere he went during his life on earth. He made it clear that this world does not look as it was originally designed and we should be burdened to see that change. As believers, this makes us kingdom carriers. We should always be observing places in our cities & on our campuses that don’t look like the Kingdom of Heaven and asking ourselves how we can change that.

Further along in Matthew 5 Jesus says, “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden...let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.” (14-16) We desire to be a people who make the places we go look different so that those around us may give glory to God.
