Sermon on the Mount: Matthew 5: 21-26

Matthew 5: 21-26

How quick are we to put walls up to the people we like the least? Let’s all be real for a minute. There have been people who have done you wrong, have annoyed you, may not be your “type” of person that you would hang out with. We have all experienced that reality in some form or another. Yet, there are some that still operate under the Christian rhythms and rituals that, subconsciously, we believe will save us or make us more “holy”.

Well… If you read anything from this devotional today, understand that God cares how we treat one another. Actually, even more than that God cares how we LOVE one another. He calls out the people who love those who are easy to love. He teaches to a crowd, with full authority, how He sacrificially loved others who did not love him back.

Jesus’ act of love for us should humble us to believe that the love of Christ is NOT just for us. And because it’s not just for us, we should fight to reconcile with those who have done us wrong or we have done wrong to them. We should pursue reconciliation more than religious accolades.

Consider these things…

  1. Who is someone in your life that is difficult to forgive or pray for

  2. Pray for that person

    1. Each day, pray for their heart, your relationship with them

  3. Don’t delay to reconcile! Pursue reconciliation with this person. Pray for words to say and actions to take.
