Samuel
1 Samuel 3, Psalm 99:6, Jeremiah 15:1, Hebrews 11:32
We don’t often get to read about the childhoods of those in the bible, but Samuel is a wonderful exception. Samuel was an answered prayer of His mother, Hannah, who sought the Lord fervently as she struggled to conceive. Samuel was called to fill many roles; he was a judge, prophet, counselor, and servant of God. Samuel played a significant role in Israel’s history, not because he was mighty, but because Hannah surrendered him to God.
Samuel’s life is a testament to the truth in Luke 16:10, “One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.” Samuel became a very influential leader because of his genuine dedication to God. So often, we are asking God to join us in our plans. We ask Him to help us meet our goals or get us to where we want to be. But if we are to be people who are truly surrendered to Christ, we must give up control of our lives and allow Him to lead us.
God is always working for our good; we can trust that the plans He has for us will lead us far better than our ambitions.
What goals have you been trying to accomplish lately? Have you allowed God into those plans?
What is God asking you to do in this season that you are in? What do you need to be faithful in?
