Holy Spirit // Week 4

“Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age” (Matthew 28:19-20).

We often read this verse in regard to reaching the nations or seeking the lost. However, I think we often miss Jesus say, “teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you.”

We must teach others how to access the Holy Spirit.

First, we must teach them the gospel. They must be believers because the Spirit dwells only in believers.

Secondly, as you have prayed, read the bible, meditated, and submitted to others, you must then model, share, and teach others to do the same. This is part of the commandment Jesus gives in Matthew 28. To make disciples is to teach them how to do what we’ve been taught.

When we make disciples, we become Spiritual parents, inviting others into our personal relationship with God. People learn by observing their teachers, which is you. Do you model, challenge, and seek these four disciplines to be in tune with the Spirit?

God calls us to be witnesses to the ends of the Earth. That gives our stories and our witness to Him working power as we witness to the truth of the gospel and the very Spirit working.

Teach out of your experience, but don’t let your experience be the law. The way we commune with God is as diverse as our stories. Therefore, point others to the Bible and a fulfilling life of prayer. Help them carve out spaces to meditate. Help them submit as you submit, too.
