Psalm 117

Psalm 117, Romans 15: 8-13

Short yet so strong. Simple yet so powerful.

In the shortest chapter in the Bible, a simple but profound statement is made.

The depth of this Psalm shows that God is not just a God of Israel, but of all nations. We see reference to all nations and to all peoples. Romans 15:11 quotes verse 1. Paul in Romans 15 uses it as part of his backup for why God is the God of all, both the Jew and the Gentile. Praise God that He loves and wants to have a relationship with ALL people.

In its simplicity, Psalm 117 is a call to worship God for who He is. This is not a response to merely what He did in one moment, but His character that we get to experience. He is love. He is steadfast. He is faithful. Read that again. Sit with it. Meditate on those characteristics of God. After a few minutes you too will be stirred to praise God for who He is.

What power in such few words. Christians, let us praise the loving and faithful Lord of all.

Take a few moments at this time to reflect on who God is and respond in worship.
