Genesis 14-15
There seems to be a lot to unpack in these chapter of Genesis. Genesis 14 is full of historical narrative of a battle between Kings. Where Lot is captured and his possessions are stolen. Then, there is an important part where Abram meets Melchizedek. That name might sound familiar to you if you’ve recently read Hebrews. Not only that but we see in Genesis 15 God make a hefty promise of a son to two people who are much to old to bear any children.
God is not building an airplane while driving it. He is not feeble and making things up as he goes. He is sovereign, all knowing and most powerful. We see that he is called the LORD Most High - which reveals who He truly is. In these chapters of Genesis, we see a God who makes a promise, who starts the process of redemption early and who never ceases to remind those of who he is. Whether that is to the nations as we see God use Abram to overthrow powerful kings with his measly 318 men, or we see him remind his own people in whom he made the covenant with! God is steadfast in his character, his word and his will and I pose to challenge you reader, what could it look like if you actually believed those things about God?
I do not need to explain to you the fast paced changes our culture continues to make us endure, (not all bad, just always changing), but to you Christian, would you ask God for a faith that is unshakable because it is placed in a God who is unshakable. Even in our moments of Abram or Sarai who laugh at God’s promises and his perfect will.
