Why belong to a local church?

The New Testament never pictures a Christian on their own. Its letters were written to real local churches: people who knew one another, worshiped together and lived on mission together. It calls the church a body, where every member has a role (1 Corinthians 12). Its leaders are charged to care for specific people, and believers are called to follow them (Acts 20:28; Hebrews 13:17).

So we believe every Christian should belong to a local church, and not just attend it, but take ownership of it. In a culture of low commitment, that is a radical and beautiful declaration: we belong to one another, and we’re in this together.

Members have rights. Owners have responsibilities.

We treat the things we own differently than the clubs we join. Resonate Owners are a family on mission under the Lordship of Jesus:

We are disciples. We abide in Christ, prioritize Huddle, and don’t just believe God’s Word but obey it.

We make disciples. We open our homes, our time and our prayers to people who don’t yet know Jesus, and we help the people we lead to lead others.

We are family. We gather, serve, give at least a tithe, and let our church family speak into our lives.

We align with the vision. We pray for, give to and go with our church’s mission to make disciples and plant churches.
