Privacy Policy
Who we are
This Privacy Policy explains how Resonate collects, uses and protects personal information through our websites, church apps and online forms. "Resonate," "we," "us" and "our" mean the organizations listed below, which work together as one family of churches:
- Resonate Collegiate Network, a Montana nonprofit
- Resonate Collective, a Washington nonprofit that also does business as Resonate Church Network
- Our local churches: Resonate Church Bellingham; Resonate Church Boise, Inc.; Resonate Church Chico; Resonate Church Corvallis; Resonate Church Ellensburg; Resonate Church Fort Collins; Resonate Church Grand Junction; Resonate Church Missoula; Resonate Church Monmouth; Resonate Church Moscow, Inc.; Resonate Church Pullman; Resonate Church Reno; and Resonate Church Salt Lake
This policy covers resonate.net, each church's website (such as moscow.resonate.net), our church apps and the forms and giving pages linked from them. It does not cover information you give us offline, such as on a paper card, although we handle that information with the same care.
Information we collect
Information you give us
- Contact information, such as your name, email address, phone number and mailing address, when you fill out a connection card, register for an event, sign up to serve, ask a question or create an app account.
- Church involvement information, such as your church, the groups or serving teams you join, your ownership (membership) commitment, your baptism date, your answers to a spiritual interest survey and prayer requests you choose to share. Some of this information shows your religious beliefs, so we treat it as sensitive and limit who can see it.
- Giving information. Gifts are processed by our giving provider, Pushpay, and gifts toward student trips by ServiceReef. We receive your name, contact information, and the amount, date and designation of each gift. We do not receive or store your full card or bank account numbers.
- Event payments for paid events, processed by our church management provider, Subsplash. As with gifts, we do not store your full card numbers.
- Messages you send us by email, text message or web form.
Information collected automatically
When you visit our websites or use our apps, our providers automatically collect technical information such as your browser type, device type, IP address and the pages you visit. This is collected through cookies and similar technology used to run the site, remember your preferences and give us general usage statistics. Embedded features, such as the giving form and video players, may set their own cookies.
We do not use your information to track you across other websites, and we do not use it for targeted advertising. We may run ads on Google search through Google's Ad Grants program for nonprofits, and we use Google's tools to measure whether those ads bring people to our websites. We do not use these tools to show you ads on other websites. Our websites do not currently respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
How we use your information
- To welcome you and help you connect with a church, a group or a serving team.
- To care for you as part of a church community, including pastoral follow-up, prayer and support.
- To process gifts and event payments, and to send receipts and annual giving statements.
- To keep church records, such as ownership commitments and baptisms.
- To send updates about events and ministry. You can unsubscribe from any email using the link at the bottom of the message.
- To keep our websites and apps secure and working, and to understand how they are used.
- To meet legal, tax and accounting requirements.
How we share your information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it with other organizations for their own marketing.
- Within Resonate. Your information is shared with your local church and with Resonate Collective, which provides finance, administration and technology support for every Resonate church. If you move to another Resonate church, we may transfer your records to that church with your knowledge.
- Service providers that run our tools for us, under agreements that limit how they use your information. These include Subsplash (websites, apps, forms, events and our church database), Pushpay (giving), Google Workspace (email and documents), Gloo (text messages), ServiceReef (student trip registrations and trip gifts) and our email newsletter services, Constant Contact and Mailchimp.
- Legal reasons. We may disclose information when the law requires it, such as in response to a subpoena or court order, or to protect the safety of a person, especially a minor.
Text messages
If you give us your mobile number and agree to receive text messages, we may text you to follow up on a spiritual interest survey or other request, and about events, groups and church updates. Message frequency varies, and message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to stop receiving messages or HELP for help. We do not share mobile numbers or text messaging consent with third parties for their marketing purposes.
Photos and video
We sometimes take photos and video at gatherings and events and use them in church communications, such as our websites, apps and social media. If you don't want your image used, tell a staff member at the event or email us, and we will do our best to honor your request and remove published images of you where we can. Events for minors require a parent or guardian's permission for photos.
Children's privacy
Our websites and apps are not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information online from children under 13 without a parent or guardian's consent. Information about minors for events or children's programs is provided by a parent or guardian. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
How we protect your information
We use reasonable safeguards to protect personal information, including access limited to the staff and volunteers who need it, secure providers, and two-step sign-in and strong passwords for staff accounts. Card and bank payments are handled by our payment providers, which meet payment card industry security standards. No method of sending or storing information online is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information as long as you are connected with a Resonate church and for a reasonable time afterward, unless you ask us to delete it. Giving and financial records are kept for 7 years to meet tax and accounting requirements.
Your choices
You can ask us to show you the personal information we have about you, correct it, delete it, or stop sending you email or text messages. You can update much of your information yourself in your church app profile. To make a request, contact us using the information below. We may need to keep some records, such as giving records, when the law requires it.
Notice for California residents
California law lets residents ask which third parties received their personal information for those parties' direct marketing. We do not share personal information with third parties for their direct marketing. If you are under 18, live in California and posted content in one of our apps or websites, you may ask us to remove it by contacting us.
Visitors outside the United States
Our websites and apps are operated in the United States, and information you give us is stored and processed in the United States. This policy does not cover our church in Reading, England, which is run by a separate UK charity under UK data protection law.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our websites and ministries change. We will post the new version here with a new effective date.
