Psalm 95
What a beautiful Psalm. Let us sing. Let us make a joyful noise. Let us rejoice in His presence.
In this Psalm, we see David describe who God is and praise Him. David also references his “fathers” and how his generation was not to be like the one before where they turned from God and hardened their hearts. David's generation was to learn from their fathers, turn to God, and enter His eternal rest.
David was a man who lived this way, he was close to God and he pursued obedience.
Overall, this Psalm is a response to what we know of God both in His character and His actions. We know that God loves his people, but when they were disobedient He punished them, brought judgement, and as it says in verse 11: God did not allow them to enter His rest. But we know the relationship God wants with His people, which is what David is reminding us of in this Psalm. He also reminds us of who God is, our Lord and our Maker.
So from what we know about God, what should our response be? Our response should be like David’s is in this Psalm. We should be thankful. We should bring Him praise. We should worship God.
Resonate, let us be a people who responds to God in thankfulness and worship, asking for softened hearts and drawing near to Him. For God is good and worthy of it all.
